Acknowledgements. And How...!!!

Last evening, after I published "The Magic: Unveiled...!!!", I found myself in a labyrinth of emotions. My friend, Shradha, to whom this poem was dedicated, had, understandably, gone bonkers.

When I shared this with my eldest sis-in-law, she spared no opportunity to tease me. She did compliment me whole heartedly for my sense of expression, but only after first asking me to stop buttering my Mom-in-law.

As soon as my Mom-in-law read this poem, which was immediately after it was published, she was crying with joy. Literally.
"I really cried after reading your poem. Love you."  - This is precisely what she messaged. I immediately called her, and there she was, still sobbing, but her voice so cheerful and happy. And nostalgic.

But one of the best replies I got was from Mahesh, Shradha's better half. He sent two comments for the post, but I could publish only one. The reason being, that the next reply that he shared, deserves a lot more respect. And a lot bigger, visible space.

So with all due permissions, I am posting his reply below. Before I do that, there is something I want to say to him.

Mahesh, when we first met, 'in the mall :)' I really had no idea what meeting you would be like. I only knew that my friend was married. When I asked her whether her's was love or arranged, she just said, 'it's a long story'. And I hated that reply.

But within 15 minutes of settling with our smoothies and coffees at Dunkin's, we were on a roll. We were talking non-stop, and candidly sharing things I never even imagined we would. We talked away like childhood friends. And that both of us are Aquarians did us all the remaining good. The most impressive part was 'the love story', and honestly, I did want to write about it then. But when me and Mr. Husband were all starry eyed and awed, and you came up with, "Now if our kids someday ask, what have you done in life, we have atleast one good thing to say", that was when I decided, it was your story and only you could tell it the best.

I am happy beyond words that you came into Shradha's life to stay. You are her wings, and you are her roots. My heart does a quick pop dance every time I see you both together. Stay together, stay blessed and stay precious, both of you.

[And stay the amazing supplier of books for me. :D]

Without further ado, readers, here is the poetic reply, that Mahesh sent:

I was excited that day..
And so must have been "Sehchar" :)
Wives of us both..
After a long time were close together!

For long I had been listening to..
About a friend from innocent years
Sometimes with a cheer in her eye..
And sometimes with tears!

I heard about the greeting cards..
About the unfailed brithday wishes
And did I not wonder
Of how eagerly awaited must have been those sweet messages!

I listened about their stories..
Sometimes with wonder and curiosity
As they both lived unaware..
Just in the same city!

And then started magic..
Weaving both together from here and all
And they both got connected..
In a world people say is just so small!

Finally came the day..
As they stood face to face...
I am sure both of their hearts
Must have been in a wild race to embrace!

They hugged, they laughed, they chatted..
Close to each other they did belong
And I stood there watching..
As if I knew this all along!

Joy filled the air...
As there was no room for any facade
The sparks were really so bright..
No matter after two decades!

It is so much joy to see..
A bond that remained so young so strong
It stood the test of time...
And showed where true friendships belong!

The scriptures all agree in what they say..
It happens for a reason.. it happens for a reason
Maybe how else had we have ever known..
The joy of meeting after long separation!

I wonder how these experiences..
Help cope with destiny, with fate
Well.. Such moments are to cherish..
In leisure... not in haste!

Very rarely does one witness
A miracle from so near..
I pray to God Almighty
May they forever remain to each other... So Dear.. So Dear!

Note: "Sehchar" is what Mr. Husband and Mahesh use to address each other. :)

The happiest part for me - my words could, once again, inspire such awesome creativity...!!!

The Magic: Unveiled...!!!

(Carry over to the last post...)

This story began
some 18 years ago
when we were kids in middle school
We laughed and played
in friendship we swayed
as if following some cosmic rule

Then blew some wind
that changed some things
and it did us physically apart
But hearts strung together
flying together yonder
we started a new start

We began writing letters
shared a myriad thoughts
and let our hearts flow on paper
We sent countless cards
talked about sky and stars
and waited for letters with a caper

Though at different places
and living different lives
we were never really away
Always sent the heavens
a silent gentle reminder
whenever it was time to pray

We knew what was going on
with friend dearest
till time blew the winds again
And before we could know
we had begun to grow
worthy for life, its struggle and strain

Thus began the time
with tuitions and coaching
as we got into eleventh grade
Leaving everything behind
only career in mind
to learn the tricks of the trade

Exams, practicals, lab journals,
Syllabi and books
was all we could remember
Everyone around
told us to be focussed
And we did the sweet surrender

And so we went on
from school to college
to get our professional degree
Wistful dust
settled on 'the letters'
as we obeyed life's decree

We got our jobs
and stuff that follows
everything was on its pace
The world changed big time
Virtual replaced Personal
So we also looked up each other
In the Social Media space

Someone once told
the most accurate truth
that this beautiful world of ours is round
Wish for something
from the core of your heart
And to You it will be destination bound

We end up
where we started from
Things seldom really change
We'd been around the country
but found each other in the same city
Isn't this 'magically' strange..!!

Almost two decades later
When we first met at the mall
We ran out of words to say
Our husbands filled the empty spaces
with anecdotes, pun and stories
that paved the way

of new everlasting friendships
And of memories
precious and rare
That these men bask in their company
share their interests, sense of humor and reading lists
It is really all there is to care

A grand salute
to our friendship
that faired well the test of time, all deft
What they always say is that
With real friends, you pick up things
just where you had last left

When my Mom-in-law
came to know about us
She was radiant like the rising Sun
Oh! I know
how both of you feel
I've tasted all this fun!

And how is that
I eagerly ask
As I am waiting, all ears
With a beaming face, she fondly tells,
"I met my school friend
after 40 years...!!!"

Here and About...!!!

Made around 10 years ago, on a cheerful August afternoon, this is the only one painting till date that could make me sit for 8 hours straight and get up only when it was complete.
And probably it is this painting that ignited in me the desire to paint on. And on.

The original creation is an ~ 8" X 12", poster colors on Engineering Graphics sheet.
A bigger art print of size 12" X 18" X 1" can be ordered on:

My First Multi-Panel Painting...!!!

While browsing my phone's Gallery yesterday, I saw this - my first multi-panel painting.

About a year ago, Khushboo and Ankit asked me if I could pull off something like this for their baby www.spectrahut.com, and since the first instance, I was totally game. I am an impatient person, and the only reason I wanted to work on this project was because I believed that it could instill some patience in me.

For the first time, I worked in layers and the complete journey was Zen. It took me about two weeks to come up with the final thing, which still was almost a year ago, and I am so surprised at myself it didn't yet made it to the blog.

So here it goes...And if you are interested in its art print, you can find the link below.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement! And once again, thanks a lot Khushboo and Ankit, for making me do this...!!!

Less is More...!!!

A few days back, the idea of minimalism got stuck into my head, because of reasons unknown and unsought.  But what I liked most about this concept was the beauty of simplicity. Underrated, maybe cliche, but so powerful!

Now, 'Minimalism' is a big concept in the world of art, with a history that dates back to early 1960s when it was born in New York as a reaction against 'Abstract Expressionism' which again is another big theory of its own.

Since I don't intend to wander in those territories here, I just wanted to share the following paintings which for me are a very happy reminder that things of beauty, no matter how simple and 'un-complex', are a joy forever, and that beauty, indeed, lies in the simple things of life. These paintings use at the most 3-4 colors, and some very basic outlines.

Take a look:

Childlike..? Yes!
Naive..?? Yes again!

I am head over heels in love with the Childhood part of life, mine or anyone else's. No doubts then that G.K.Chesterton's quote: "when being a child stops being fun, then I will grow up" continues to be the ruling philosophy of my life.

"Childhood" is the most uncomplicated time in our lives, where anything and everything mesmerizes us. Everything is possible and doable, all dreams achievable and everyone lovable. There are no unnecessary strings in the mind and heart that may entangle the soul later on. There are no convictions formed by loaning other's opinions. Whatever is, is original and novel. All is pure and unadulterated, or at least that is how it appears to be, and life is bliss.

Isn't this how we really want our lives to be? Just Love, Laughter and Life. Simple, and therefore beautiful. Uncluttered, and therefore organized. Less, and therefore so much more!

Stay a child, everyone...!!!
